Qual a origem do Dia do Automóvel?
A primeira e mais aceita hipótese sobre a escolha do dia 13 é que a data seria uma homenagem à abertura da primeira estrada totalmente pavimentada do país.
A rodovia, que liga a cidade do Rio de Janeiro (então capital da República) e a cidade de Petrópolis, percorrendo aproximadamente 66 quilômetros, foi inaugurada em 13 de maio de 1926 pelo presidente da época, Washington Luís.
Outra versão afirma que a data foi escolhida para reverenciar Bertha Benz, mulher de Karl Benz, de quem falamos anteriormente. Para mostrar a confiabilidade do veículo desenvolvido pelo marido, durante 3 dias e com os dois filhos do casal a bordo, Bertha fez uma viagem de longa distância, atravessando 194 quilômetros entre duas cidades alemãs.
Por fim, uma coincidência interessante e que torna o 13 de maio ainda mais especial é que essa foi a data da produção do Belcar, o primeiro veículo de passeio brasileiro.
